Body of Man Killed in Solo Car Accident Identified

A man  who was killed in a solo vehicle accident on July 27 was identified as Danilo Rivera a 27-year-old resident of Aliso Veijo.  Rivera died at around 2:30 a.m. after his car hit tree on the shoulder of the southbound I-405 at Irvine Center Drive.  Witnesses on the scene told authorities that the 1991 Mazda that Rivera had been driving was weaving in and out of lanes before swerving to the right shoulder and hitting the tree.  The vehicle caught on fire with the trapped Rivera inside.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Because the body had been badly burnt investigators had to wait until dental records came back to confirm the identity of the dead man.

There could be many reasons why Rivera was weaving in and out of traffic. One of them could be that he was in hurry to get to wherever he was going and he  blew caution to the wind.  The other is that something happened to his vehicle because of a malfunctioning or defective auto part and he was trying to control the vehicle.  If it was the latter, the surviving family could pursue a product liability lawsuit against the automaker.

Honda Extends Recall To Include 440,000 More Vehicles

Honda’s recent recall will now include more vehicles than was originally released. The recall includes specific makes of 2001-2003 Honda Accords, 2001 Civics and 2002-2004 Acura TLs. According to reports, the sudden recall is as a result of a defect in the airbag technology of these vehicles. On top of those in the original November recall, up to 440,00 vehicles are now also eligible for repair after the additional models have been added on.

Customers with vehicles that are affected under the recall will have their cars refitted with improved steering wheel airbags. Apparently, this is the component of the vehicles that is defective – Honda stated that, under certain circumstances, the air bag could possibly burst, releasing metal that could lead to personal injury for the driver.

Man Chokes on Soda and Crashes into Tree

In what almost sounds like a News of the Weird clip, a man choked on a gulp of soda while driving, passed out and hit a tree.  The freak traffic accident occurred in San Juan Capistrano on the Ortega Highway just east of Antonia parkway around 10:15 a.m. The man had been driving a red compact Subaru when he took a sip from his drink and choked.  He then reportedly grew unconscious and drove off the roadway, crashing into a wire fence before striking the tree.

The unidentified man sustained an apparent broken collar bone cuts and scrapes and was taken to Mission Hospital.

Although this unfortunate solo car accident happened due to a freak occurrence, there are far too many that can be traced to faulty auto parts.  When this happens, the injured party or their family members can file a product liability lawsuit against the car’s manufacturer.  Such a lawsuit usually maintains that the vehicle’s maker showed negligence by putting an automobile in the road that was dangerously constructed.  If a car has malfunctioned and  caused you injury you can file a personal injury lawsuit under product liability laws. Call us today to learn more about your rights in this regard and see if you are entitled to financial compensation for your injuries.

Long Beach Man killed in Crash on Crenshaw Blvd.

A crash on Crenshaw Boulevard ended in a fatality on Tuesday when a car struck a tree near the ExxonMobil refinery in Torrance.  The Impact of the car accident was so severe that it nearly split the vehicle in two.  The 34-year-old victim, Ector Louis Gonzales, was headed south on Crenshaw in his 2006 Nissan Sentra when he smashed into a median just north of Del Amo Boulevard.  The crash was reported at 2:55 p.m. and shut down Del Amo and 190th street as police tried to investigate the scene.

Most would consider this an open and shut case of an errant driver who met a sad end.  Family members of the deceased should look much deeper, as some solo car accidents could be caused by defective auto parts.  Something like the brakes failing or the steering wheel malfunctioning could have contributed to the man’s demise.  If this is found to be the case, relatives could sue the automaker via product liability and wrongful death lawsuit.

If a loved one died in an accidnet and a faulty car part was the culprit, you can do the same.  Call us today to find out what you can do after a car accident takes away your loved one.

Fight Fighters Dampen Blaze Started by Car Fire

A car fire which originated in the Castaic Lake area near Grapevine shut down I-5’s northbound lanes and ignited a 15 acre brush fire.  The fire was reported and received by the California Highway Patrol at around 11:18 a.m. from the motorist that owned the burning vehicle.  The automobile was lodged in the freeway’s center divider  with flames and smoke pouring from the engine.

A rogue spark from the burning auto set neighboring brush aflame on the northbound side of I-5 near Lake Hughes Road and raged for some 15 to 20 acres.  Firefighters were able to quickly subdue the flames, putting the fire out in less than thirty-minutes.

Such an incident could have  resulted in tremendous property damage, or worse, people could have been injured or killed.  Once the catalyst of the car fire is found, the responsible party will be held accountable for any damage the fire itself  caused.    There are several possible culprits.  If the engine simply burst into spontaneous flame, it could be a manufacturer’s defect and the car owner could pursue a product liability claim.  If it was caused by something the driver did and someone’s valuable property was scorched or damaged, the property owner could file a claim under property damage laws.  If you have been involved in a similar incident you could be entitled to compensation.   Contact our knowledgeable legal team and set up a free consultation.  Don’t second guess, know your rights.  Call now.

A rollover accident in the Mojave Desert resulted in the death of a passenger and serious injuries for the driver.  The cargo truck overturned at 4:50 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-40 between Kelbaker Road and Ludlow. The trucker, who driving the rig, was gravely injured while his passenger, who was sleeping in the rear of the truck, was killed. The cargo the truck was carrying spilled all over the road way and required extensive clean up.

Officials were able to confirm that it was a semi that was involved in the accident and that a fatality had occurred at around 6:30 a.m.

The most alarming aspect of these kinds of accidents is that the cause may not be immediately known.  What may look cut and dry could end up being a lot more serious than originally thought.  For example, what looks like driver error could really be an accident caused by defective auto parts.  Many rollovers occur due to a defect in the automaker’s design.
