Los Angeles County Truck Accident Knocks Out Northridge Area Power Temporarily

In Northridge, a truck that hit a power pole has knocked out the electrical service to more than 5,000 in the area. On Monday morning, roundabout 6:45 am, the truck was reported to have hit the power pole situated at the 8700 block of Canby.

When the truck accident took place, lines fell to the floor on the road, causing the electrical problems throughout the area. Also affected by the accident were several traffic signals in the vicinity of the downed power pole.

After fire officials were notified, the Los Angeles Water and Power officials were notified also, and were able to take repairs to the incident within hours. Fortunately, no injuries took place as a result of the accident.

Two Accidents Have Fatalities In Santa Clarita Valley

Friday night was unusually unpleasant in Santa Clarita Valley, where two separate car accidents took the lives of two people. The first accident, which took place on Bouquet Canyon Road, killed Douglass Albert Rawson, a man of Saugus. Robert Doyle, another driver, was traveling southbound in his vehicle near Shadow Valley lane but fell asleep, obviously rendering him unable to drive. His vehicle veered off course into the opposing lane, with vehicles coming at him from the north. As a result, his vehicle crashed with Rawson’s.

The second accident took the life of a Francisco Diaz, who was ejected from his vehicle on Lake Hughes Road. The man’s car by two hikers, according to California Highway Patrol, and his body was found later by rescue units. At the time of the car accident, Diaz had not been wearing a seatbelt, which contributed to him being ejected. According to reports, Diaz was on the job making deliveries when he lost control, driving off the edge of the road into a ravine 95 feet below.

Motorcyclist Injured In Los Angeles County Motorcycle Accident

A man struck while riding his motorcycle became pinned under a vehicle yesterday, sustaining substantial injuries, reported authorities. The motorcycle crash took place at around 1 pm at a location near Baldwin and Woodruff Ave. A Honda Accord and an Acura Sedan collided with the motorcyclist, knocking him from the vehicle into the road, where he ended up under a parked car. Underneath the car, he became trapped until he was removed later.

Authorities said they were forced to lift the car from atop the man to save him. When he was removed, he already seemed to have head injuries, leg injuries, and arm injuries. The man’s motorcycle, his helmet, and a small pool of his blood remained at the scene as he was taken to Spriggs Hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Both of the other drivers remained at the scene, but it could not be determined why or how the motorcycle crashed into the two cars. However, investigation of the accident is expected to continue. Authorities had blocked off a section of Baldwin Avenue to allow for investigation.

Swimming Accident At California Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach in California was the site of an unfortunate accident in which one boy is now reported dead. This past weekend, at what was reported to be a weekend outing, 17-year old boy, Dexter Lima of Torrance, was swimming at the Los Angeles county beach with his cousin when the accident took place. The 17-year old boy suffered injuries, now fatal, after a wave knocked him beneath the water, having rendered him unconscious by the time he was rescued. A police sergeant reported that the boy died in a hospital at 6:15 on Monday.

Fire Department Handles Los Angeles County Fire

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department,  a small fire erupted near a cement plant in Canyon Country, burning nearly an acre of land located in that area. After the fire was reported, the Los Angeles County Fire Department was quick to arrive on the scene and extinguish the fire. The fire department was able to confine the fire to an area close to Northbound14 near Soledad Canyon and Shadowpines.
