A black Nissan Maxima crashed into a double rig dirt hauler in the south bound lanes of Brea Boulevard at around 7 a.m. this Friday morning causing diesel fuel to spill after the truck’s tank ruptured. The car and truck collision occurred right at the intersection of Brea and Bastanchury Road and shut that area of the roadway down.
Investigators on the scene will more than likely look into various reasons for the truck and car crash, especially if a death or traumatic permanent injury resulted. One of the primary causes that authorities often exam is driver intoxication. Distraction is yet another consideration that will be weighed. If all else checks out the possibility of vehicular malfunction due to faulty auto parts could be a possibility. All these determining factors could help accident victims analyze the situation to see if they can pursue litigation and receive financial compensation for their injuries. This is important since ensuing medical costs can threaten a collision survivor’s livelihood and savings.

A school bus and car accident in Anaheim resulted in one adult and one child being taken to local hospitals. Although the injuries noted were minor, authorities and paramedics at the scene advised medical exams as a precaution because of the violence of the collision. The accident transpired earlier today at the intersection of Broadway and Olive Street after a white Toyota Camry, which was traveling northbound, broadsided an Anaheim City School district bus. There was only one child inside the bus at the time and both bus driver and passenger appeared unharmed. The child was later picked up from the hospital by their parent–the Camry driver was evaluated at a local medical center.
It is thankful that authorities at the scene did not take it for granted that no one was hurt after the car accident. Far too often people can appear to be okay and later succumb to hard to diagnose internal injuries. In some of these instances, people have died. If people were injured in the accident, fault would have to be determined. Once liability is established, those who were seriously hurt could file a personal injury lawsuit against the negligent party.

Far too often when people hear about personal injury lawsuits they assume that the individual is only after money. An example would be the woman who sued McDonald’s for getting leg burns after placing hot coffee between them before peeling out of drive through. She won millions in a subsequent lawsuit although public opinion seemed to indicate that it was foolhardy for the elderly lady to put a hot cup of Joe between her legs in the first place. The truth is, that this elderly lady had severe 3rd degree burns, required multiple surgeries and will have permanent scars – all because a large corporation decided that they were not going to brew their coffee at the regulated temperatures. This large corporation acted as if the law did not apply to them.
The perception that America is a litigious society is what primarily drives the idea that all lawsuits in the personal injury arena are without merit. The reaction has been so knee jerk that it causes a bit of a stigma that makes those who wish to investigate their legal options in this regard a bit hesitant to do so.
Here is what the accident victims needs to consider when approaching the possibility of pursuing personal injury litigation.
- Civil tort legislation was enacted to give victims a voice and the ability to pursue wrongdoers in a realm outside of criminal court. It also gives them the chance to recoup financial restitution in a circumstance where they have lost money due to someone else’s willful negligence. When one thinks about it, this is extremely fair. Why should someone shell out thousands of dollars in medical related costs and potentially lose their life savings and home because of another individuals thoughtless, criminal, or careless actions?
- Personal injury lawsuits hold the guilty accountable for the harm they caused to a person or their family. In some of these cases, criminal law may not apply in regards to the incident itself. For instance a slip and fall accident may not necessarily land the responsible party in jail, but via a civil lawsuit, the individual or business would have to pay restitution for the victim they hurt.
- Personal injury lawsuits act as a deterrent as well. Even people who have no real regard for their fellow human beings may reconsider foolhardy actions if they know their wallet may be substantially it. Besides, If you have been seriously hurt, wouldn’t you desire to protect others so they wouldn’t meet your fate? If an individual or business puts you in harms way they could very well do the same to others. The next person may not be so lucky either and could lose their life.
Indeed, there are real and valid reasons why a person may chose to pursue a personal injury case in court. When they elect to do so, they will require the assistance of a personal injury attorney who understands their legal needs.

In an update to the recent SUV rollover accident in Mission Veijo that produced five fatalities, the victims have been identified and appear to have been related. Among them were three female children and 2 adults who were confirmed to live in San Pedro. The tragic SUV accident occurred this past Tuesday after a Chevrolet Tracker blew a tir, weaved across lanes of traffic then tumbled down a steep embankment on the southbound I-5 freeway at La Paz Road. Authorities are still awaiting dental record to officially confirm the deceased, but gleaned who the car belonged to by the vehicles registration. The SUV was also taken to a forensics lab to determine the cause of the wreck. One of the things they will look for is mechanical failure.
It is almost impossible not to feel a tug on the heartstrings when one hears of such a tragedy, especially when kids are involved. The surviving family members will also be left to mourn not one death but five. If investigators determine that a mechanical failure occurred because of a defective auto design, they would be more than well within their rights to pursue litigation against the automaker.
No one should wake up to the news that their loved one has passed on due to someone else’s negligence. When this happens, victims have the right to pursue the matter in court. Two women were fatally injured in Los Angeles today after the 1998 BMW 328i coupe they were driving in rolled over. The car accident occurred on the Harbor 110 freeway at 1: 49 a.m. after the female driver, a Downey woman, missed the eastbound transition to the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway. She made a sharp right turn and lost control, ejecting four of the car’s passengers after the vehicle began to rollover. The 20-year-old driver and three other passengers were injured.
Cindy Luna (whose address is unknown) and Karla Castillo of Los Angeles were declared dead at the scene. The Driver and a 22-year-old Lynwood woman were taken to California Hospital east of LA while the 18 and 20-year-old passengers, both from Huntington Park, were taken to Harbor UCLA in Torrance. All were listed in critical condition.
When young adults are taken too soon, it can compound a tragedy like this. Add to this that so many were injured while two were killed and the grief among friends and family will be immeasurable. When all is said and done however, the family of the deceased victims will have to investigate the car accident to make sure what happened. If they find for instance, that the driver was drunk, they could potentially file a wrongful death lawsuit against the responsible party. If someone you love was taken due to someone else’s bad choices, you can pursue the matter in court. Call us today for a free consultation and learn what our seasoned wrongful death attorneys can do for you.
