Pedestrian Dies After Hit and Run Accident

A man who was struck by a motorist while crossing the street in south Los Angeles was killed, authorities report. The 39-year-old man, who has been identified as Tyrone L. Jones, died after the driver hit him and then fled from the scene.

The pedestrian accident took place around 10:30 on Saturday evening. The driver of the car that hit Jones was driving southbound on Broadway, near 91st, when he came into contact with Jones, who was crossing the street. The driver sped from the scene without so much as checking to see if the man was alive.

According to reports, the driver did more than simply flee the scene. In the crash, Jones was lifted onto the windshield of the car, and hung their for moments after he was hit. To get away, the driver needed to shake him off, and maneuvered to do so before speeding away.

Jones was a handicapped man, reports his family. He often crossed that particular street to get from his home to his church.

Although the driver involved in this tragedy has not been found, his car. a green Chevy Lumina, has been identified and located. The Los Angeles Police Department requests that anyone with information of the driver’s whereabouts contact them as soon as possible.

Two People Injured in Hit and Run Collision

Two people were injured in a hit-and-run accident that turned into a multiple vehicle collision  this afternoon.  The crash happened around 12:121 p.m. in the northbound lane of  I-5 Freeway just north of Alicia parkway.  One of the victims of the crash had been riding a blue Dodge Stealth which was rear ended by another vehicle  after which it crashed into a blue Dodge Charger.  The charger then struck a silver Honda SUV.  The driver that caused the accident fled the scene leaving behind the two accident victims.  If found, the motorist could face felony charges.

Police Suspect Drunk Driving In Accident That Injured Infant Siblings

A baby girl only 2 months of age has died of injuries caused by a hit-and-run driver in an accident on Friday. The girl, who’s older brother was also involved in the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene in Long Beach. According to reports, a man was pulling the two children across the street in a wagon on Friday night, at around 8:15 pm. While in the street, an SUV driving on the road crashed into the wagon that contained the two kids and continued driving, dragging along the wagon and kids with him for hundreds of yards. The girl’s injuries ended fatal and the boy, aged 2 or 3, was also injured and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The driver was located and arrested, and authorities have also mentioned that he may have been drunk driving during the accident.

Injury Incurred after Hit-and-Run on Freeway

An accident in Santa Ana resulted in an injury today after a felony hit and run transpired.  The incident occurred in the northbound carpool lane on freeway 405 after a green Jeep crashed into the center divider.  The collision was just north of  the Harbor Boulevard exit and  was said to be caused when a vehicle careened towards the jeep. Hit and Run Fountain Valley Driver Goes to Trial

In Santa Ana today,  a Fountain Valley man went on trial for the January 2008 vehicular manslaughter of 44-year-old Richard Lauvao. The fateful accident occurred when defendant Kenny Mihn Phan ran a red light and crashed into the accident victim’s car at the intersection of Euclid Street and Westminster Avenue on the Santa Ana-Garden Grove border. Phan then got out of his cHonda Accord and fled but was later traced by DNA evidence left at the scene.

Prosecutors say the impact was so extreme that Lauvao was almost decapitated by his seat belt.  They are demanding the full 13 years.

Hit And Run Driver Turns Himself In

The hit-and-run related death of a 64-year-old woman prompted one of her assailants to step forward. The tragedy occurred at around 8 p.m. evening at the corner of South Normandie and West 106th street on a Sunday.  According to witnesses, the driver of a Chevy Tahoe and another car were speed racing through the area when the Tahoe crashed into a 1996 Saturn, killing the female driver on impact.  The Tahoe was headed northbound and the Saturn driver southbound on Normandie when the two collided.

The SUV burst into flames and onlookers rushed to pull the trapped SUV driver out of the car.   After his clothing was extinguished, the man fled the scene.  The SUV driver, now identified as 40-year-old Willie ray Shavers Jr., came into the Culver City police department at 10:45 a.m. this morning saying he was responsible for the crash.  He is being treated for accident related injuries and will be going to jail following treatment and charged with felony hit-and-run and vehicular homicide with negligence.

LAPD Asks For Information Following Downey Hit and Run

A hit and run accident that killed a Downey man this Monday is still under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. The department requested today that the public provide help in finding the perpetrator. The man killed in the accident, Federico Porras, was traveling south on Marianna, outside Los Angeles, when he was hit by a car.

A car identified as a black 2006 Nissan Versa struck the man’s vehicle, a 2007 Honda motorcycle, and then fled from the scene, turning the accident into a hit and run. Porras was taken to a hospital but unfortunately died later. Information relevant to this hit and run accident can be called in to the Central Division of LAPD.

Hit-and-Run Driver who Killed Woman and Son Sought

Honduran native Roberto Carlos Paz is currently wanted on a $190,000 warrant for the vehicular manslaughter of a woman and one of her 4-year-old twin boys. Charged in Jan 1, 2008 for the crime of a hit and run causing death and reckless driving, Paz is still being sought in connection to the crime. The accident occurred when Midi Mikasa and her husband, Mark, were passing through the intersection of Main and Albertoni streets with their twin sons, Nathan and Lucas, in the back seat.  Paz ran the red light at a high rate of speed and plowed into the couple’s vehicle with his pick up truck. 34-year-old Midi died that evening and her son, Nathan died the next morning. Husband  Mark, 37, and son Lucas survived after sustaining serious injuries.

44-year-old Paz had several previous convictions for running red lights as well as speeding and at the time of the car accident, his driver’s license had been suspended.  Paz fled on foot after abandoning his pick up truck.  The suspect is Latino, 5 foot 4 inches tall weighing between 165 pounds.  He may or may not have a mustache and has been known to use aliases. Teen Dragged, Killed In Los Angeles Hit and Run Accident

A young teen 14 years in age was pronounced dead at a local hospital after being dragged in a hit-and-run accident. The boy, identified as Semaj Spencer, had only just turned 14 and would have been attending Morningside High School shortly. Driver Involved in Deadly Hit and Run Sought

14-year-old Spencer Hoover was run down and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the Inglewood district   at 1 am Monday morning.  The boy was crossing the street when the car struck  the youth and drug him 50 feet.  Witnesses say that the impact severe enough to knock the teen out of his shoes.  The driver not stop.  Although the teen was  jaywalking when the incident occurred, the motorist is still liable for hitting the young man and fleeing the scene, authorities say.
