Two men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries when their two vehicles collided near the I-5 freeway on-ramp at Main Street in Santa Ana. The accident was reported just before noon, and investigation revealed that a motorcyclist was making a left turn to go onto the I-5 southbound freeway when he was struck by an orange Volkswagen GTI traveling northbound in the second lane of Main Street. According to Santa Ana Police Commander Stephen Colon, the motorcyclist and driver were both taken to the hospital to be treated for non-serious injuries.

An accident in Santa Ana resulted in an injury today after a felony hit and run transpired. The incident occurred in the northbound carpool lane on freeway 405 after a green Jeep crashed into the center divider. The collision was just north of the Harbor Boulevard exit and was said to be caused when a vehicle careened towards the jeep. Witnesses stated that the other car, which they could not identify, fled the scene prior to the authorities’ arrival. Investigators are trying to ascertain if the vehicle in question made contact or simply caused the other automobile to swerve and wreck. The extent of the jeep driver’s injuries as well as their identity is not currently known.

A fatal car collision in Anaheim occurred after a vehicle veered into the No.1 lane of the 91 freeway at approximately 8:12 p.m. Thursday evening. According to onlookers, the car crept all the way across the freeway into the slow lane before crashing. The individual in the vehicle was killed shortly after the crash. No further details regarding the accident were forthcoming at press time

A solo car accident resulted in two major injuries and three fatalities when a Honda crashed into a wall in Irvine Thursday evening. The tragedy happened at 11:30 p.m. on Shady Canyon east of Sunny Hill near a gated community. Authorities arrived at the scene and found a 1993 Honda had collided into a brick wall bear the neighborhood’s guard shack. One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while another died shortly after being delivered the hospital.
Three others remain hospitalized at local medial centers. The names of the victims have not been released and investigators are still trying to establish a cause for the wreck.
As with any solo accident there could be a number of reasons why the crash occurred. The fact that DUI wasn’t mentioned is significant, possibly because it was already ruled out. A man suspected be drunk driving early Monday morning has been arrested, after causing an accident where his vehicle flipped on the highway, authorities reported. The man, identified as Jashdeep Gill, was reportedly in the fast lane of Highway 118 when, as an apparent result of driving drunk, he lost control of his vehicle. The accident occurred westbound past Rocky Peak Fire road, ay about 2:05 am on Monday morning. After losing control, Gill struck the center divider of the highway, resulting in the rollover of his vehicle. When the car finally stopped, it was situated on its roof in a position perpendicular to the roadway.
About 2 minutes past the accident, Gill exited his vehicle and walked away. At this point, another driver, Michael Cerniglia of Camarillo, crashed into Gill’s vehicle as he progressed west on the highway. Due to the early morning darkness, Cerneglia said he couldn’t see Gill’s vehicle lying on the highway. Cerneglia was taken to a hospital with injuries to the head, in the form of a cut.

Two women were fatally injured in Los Angeles today after the 1998 BMW 328i coupe they were driving in rolled over. The car accident occurred on the Harbor 110 freeway at 1: 49 a.m. after the female driver, a Downey woman, missed the eastbound transition to the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway. She made a sharp right turn and lost control, ejecting four of the car’s passengers after the vehicle began to rollover. The 20-year-old driver and three other passengers were injured.
Cindy Luna (whose address is unknown) and Karla Castillo of Los Angeles were declared dead at the scene. The Driver and a 22-year-old Lynwood woman were taken to California Hospital east of LA while the 18 and 20-year-old passengers, both from Huntington Park, were taken to Harbor UCLA in Torrance. All were listed in critical condition.

2 men driving a stolen Lexus SUV were arrested today after leading police on a highly dangerous pursuit through West Los Angeles, Culver City and the Mid-City area. The actual pursuit began at 9:30 a.m. on the southbound San Diego (405) freeway. The men in the stolen Lexus squealed onto Olympic Boulevard at one point and crashed into another car, but sped off shortly after the collision.
Police pursued the suspects on surface streets and after traveling onto Santa Monica Freeway (10) they proceeded to drive both north and south on Robertson Boulevard and Baldwin Hills. During the chase, the SUV nearly collided with another vehicle as it attempted to drive on the wrong side La Cienega street. The Lexus eventually crashed into a curb. The driver tried to bail but was eventually caught and the SUV passenger was also taken into custody. Little is known about the original owner to the Lexus SUV or the condition of the other driver who was hit by the fleeing suspects at the start of the pursuit.

A Fullerton car crash involving a gray Toyota Avalon and silver Nissan pathfinder resulted in injuries with at least one person being removed from their vehicle via the Jaws of Life. The horrific car accident occurred at 11:14 a.m. on 224 E Commonwealth Avenue. Authorities arrived to find a passenger trapped inside the gray Avalon which appeared to have been pushed into a white Mazda MX3.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the man after which the passenger and the driver of the Avalon were promptly rushed to a local hospital. The extent of injuries have not been reported.
When one thinks about it, the Jaws of life have the appropriate name.
