Truck Accidents 101

Truck accidents refer to any type of accident involving a truck accident.  This can be a car v.s. truck or a truck v.s. pedestrian, or a truck v.s. bike and/or motorcycle.  Truck accidents are very common in California.  Since California is one of the largest commercial transportation states in the country, there are thousands of trucks, both small and large, on the streets, freeways, interstates and highways and any given time.

Typically, being involved in an accident with a truck is much more serious than if you were to be involved in an accident with a passenger vehicle.  Even small freight trucks outweigh passenger vehicles by more than 3 to 1 meaning that the impact itself will be much more forceful and has the potential to cause much more damage.

Other than the weight difference, another important difference in being involved in an accident with a truck, is that if the truck is owned and/or operated by a company, the insurance coverage that could potentially be available will be different that the typical individual auto policy you carry.  Corporations often have commercial auto insurance policies.  If the truck or the company that owns/operates the truck has several vehicles, it is possible that they are covered by a “fleet policy.”  Both commercial auto insurance policies and fleet insurance policies may provide coverage for injuries and accidents that far exceed anything an individual policy would provide.

If you or a loved one has been involved in a truck accident, don’t let the insurance company take advantage of you.  Don’t sign any papers or speak with an insurance adjuter until you have had the chance to have an attorney review your case.  You may be guessing about the value of your case.  Protect yourself.  Call now or fill out the form located to the right of this article and an experienced truck accident lawyer will get in contact with you.
