In Northridge, a truck that hit a power pole has knocked out the electrical service to more than 5,000 in the area. On Monday morning, roundabout 6:45 am, the truck was reported to have hit the power pole situated at the 8700 block of Canby.
When the truck accident took place, lines fell to the floor on the road, causing the electrical problems throughout the area. Also affected by the accident were several traffic signals in the vicinity of the downed power pole.
After fire officials were notified, the Los Angeles Water and Power officials were notified also, and were able to take repairs to the incident within hours. Fortunately, no injuries took place as a result of the accident.

A jackknifed big rig truck near LA reportedly closed down eastbound freeway 118 into Granada. Reported at around 9 am on Tuesday, it was said that the truck jackknifed in the middle of the freeway, spilling oil across the lanes. Lanes were blocked, and the highway eventually closed while crews pursued to cleanup the spill and resume traffic. At 11 am, two lanes reopened, the rest remaining closed for another half hour.So far, fortunately no injuries have been reported as a result of the Los Angeles big rig truck accident.

A 32-year-old Anaheim man was struck by a Park and Recreations pickup while sleeping under a tree in Modjeska Park. The collision occurred around 11:45 a.m. after a maintenance worker cut across the grass to head towards a trash can. The driver of the truck said he “felt something” and stopped the vehicle to investigate. It was then that he realized that he had run over a man who had been snoozing under a tree. Investigators are looking into the pedestrian accident to see if there was any way the driver could have avoided hitting the Anaheim resident. The struck man was alert and did not seem to be seriously harmed in the incident but was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

A car accident in San Bernadino caused serious injuries to a 43-year-old man on the morning of August 20, 2009. The man was struck by a teenage driver at an intersection in Yucaipa, California as he was crossing the street in a motorized wheelchair. He was hit by a full-sized Chevrolet pickup truck being driver by a 16-year-old boy. The county sheriff’s department reported that the accident occurred at a speed of between thirty-five and forty miles per hour, which is normal for that road. The accident was likely caused by the teenager not seeing the man, officials said. The skid marks at the scene indicate that the teenager tried to stop the car, but was unable to avoid the pedestrian. The victim was taken to an area hospital and treated for injuries.

A portion of Ventura Freeway 101 was shut down on Thursday after a two vehicle collision left a truck on its side. The truck accident, which took place on Ventura Freeway, closed down the exit to 101 in Woodland Hills. A truck progressing westward on the highway struck another vehicle, which was stalled at that point in time. When the truck overturned as a result of the accident, the wreck caused some serious issues on the highway. As a result, authorities were needed to administer proper cleanup, closing the freeway down for several hours. The accident left one person with substantial injuries, who was taken to the West Hills hospital, but no other personal injuries occured.

In Orange County today a truck slammed into a wall and overturned in the northbound lanes of Clara Avenue this morning. The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene at around 6:47 a.m. where they learned f rom witnesses that the white Ford Ranger swerved from the No. 1 lane to the slow lane and overturned. The driver of the truck, a male, was also seen receiving assistance from a passerby as he laid beside his truck on the ground. The driver was taken to the hospital for injuries but the extent of them are not known. Two lanes of the 55 were also blocked so road crews could flip the truck over.

Governor Schwarzenegger signed a bill into law today that banned big rigs and semi trucks from a portion of Angeles Crest Highway. The move came five months after a runaway truck lost its brakes on a steep incline, hurtled down the road an crashed into several cars as well as a bookstore in La Canada Flintridge. A father and daughter were killed and 12 others were injured. A middle aged man was killed when the driver of a Fedex Truck lost control of his vehicle on Tuesday morning. A 51-year-old, John Winter was a pedestrian on East Park Avenue at the time of the accident, when the truck struck and killed him at around 8:30. Witnesses said the Fedex truck was traveling at high speeds, and then seemed to lose control and ram into vehicles on the road. After causing damage to several vehicles, the truck proceeded to hit the pedestrian. The man died upon impact from the Fedex truck.
The driver, unidentified, was interviewed following the accident, in which he was one of three injured. The driver in one of the vehicles that was hit, a woman , Bonnie Goetz, was also a victim of injuries in the accident. According to reports, the woman is now at home but sustained head injuries and neck injuries during the pedestrian accident.The pedestrian accident remains under investigation, but police have determined that neither drugs nor drunk driving were a factor in the accident.
The pedestrian accident was the third of similar Long Beach fatalities in the last year. Three people are reportedly injured following an accident involving a big rig truck that spread across two Los Angeles freeways. The truck was headed westbound on Freeway 10 when it launched across the overpass into Freeway 119, the next freeway over, and then into a nearby Honda dealership. The big rig truck landed atop four cars, damaging the vehicles and injuring the truck’s driver and passengers upon impact. As a result of the accident, one road was shut down for around an hour.

It seems a truck that was set on fire early yesterday morning in Norwalk was actually a stolen vehicle. At around 1 am this morning, the vehicle ignited on Hoxie Avenue near Freeway 605, apparently set on fire. firefights responded to a call to the truck fire, which was highly intensified at the time of their arrival. Los Angeles Firefighters reported that the truck was fully ablaze when they reached the scene of the truck fire. Although no injuries took place, local police are investigating the truck fire.
