SUV Strikes Parked Vehicles, Traffic Sign and Power Poles

A traffic accident in Anaheim resulted in a crash that sent the driver to the hospital.  The collision occurred on Ball Road between Gilbert and Magnolia streets at around 6:40 a.m. when a silver Chevrolet SUV that was traveling west on Ball  swerved to the right, hit a traffic sign and slammed into two power poles.  The reckless SUV also damaged a white Ford pickup, a silver Ford two door and a black Nissan pickup. The cause of the accident was not known  but it is speculated that the driver may have been sleepy. The driver was rushed to the hospital but the extent of the man’s injuries are not known.

Drowsy driving is right up there with cell phone use and DUI as the cause of major accidents.  Public awareness is growing and individuals who drive when fatigued could be held responsible for injury or property damage caused by their recklessness.  This is especially true if the driver was aware they were tired prior to getting in their vehicle.  In the above case, the individuals who owned any of the three cars can sue to obtain money for the damage incurred by the wreck.  If you have suffered a loss of property or been seriously injured because of a drowsy driver, take action and contact our legal offices today.  During a one-on-one free office consultation, we will discuss your legal options and help you obtain the money you need for accident associated costs.

Car Hits Fire Hydrant To Cause Traffic Holdup

A single vehicle accident was the cause of a traffic holdup that occurred on Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles. The vehicle containing two people crashed into a fire hydrant, somewhere around 2 am on the morning of July 24. The actual site of the crash is located near Bel Air Crest road. As a result of the impact, the hydrant broke and began to emit a stream of water, which slowed traffic on the road for nearly six hours. The accident was expected to cause a significant problem, but was later found to be less of a concern, said the Los Angeles Fire Department.

When a single vehicle accident occurs, there tends not to be a cause for litigation. However, victims of single car accidents are still subject to settlements from their insurance, and additional legal issues can easily come into play. If you have been injured or suffered damages in a single vehicle accident, you should be sure to receive the advice about your case that you need. Fire Started by Kids Playing with Matches

A fire that was reported in the Newport Beach/East Back Bay area just before 2:30 p.m.  this past Sunday afternoon was said to have started accidentally.  According to reports, the  blaze was apparently set by two juveniles who were playing with matches.  The careless duo’s   fire torched roughly 2-5 acres before  being contained by firefighters less than an hour later.

The two male juveniles responsible for the blaze left the area shortly before the fire started, but one of them returned to tell authorities that they had accidentally set the fire.  The boys were taken into custody and later release to their parents.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, but these scenarios can often times have tragic consequences. Not only could property be irreparably damaged, innocent victims, including the kids, may have been killed. Fight Fighters Dampen Blaze Started by Car Fire

A car fire which originated in the Castaic Lake area near Grapevine shut down I-5’s northbound lanes and ignited a 15 acre brush fire.  The fire was reported and received by the California Highway Patrol at around 11:18 a.m. from the motorist that owned the burning vehicle.  The automobile was lodged in the freeway’s center divider  with flames and smoke pouring from the engine.

A rogue spark from the burning auto set neighboring brush aflame on the northbound side of I-5 near Lake Hughes Road and raged for some 15 to 20 acres.  Firefighters were able to quickly subdue the flames, putting the fire out in less than thirty-minutes.

Such an incident could have  resulted in tremendous property damage, or worse, people could have been injured or killed.  Once the catalyst of the car fire is found, the responsible party will be held accountable for any damage the fire itself  caused.    There are several possible culprits.  If the engine simply burst into spontaneous flame, it could be a manufacturer’s defect and the car owner could pursue a product liability claim.  If it was caused by something the driver did and someone’s valuable property was scorched or damaged, the property owner could file a claim under property damage laws.  If you have been involved in a similar incident you could be entitled to compensation.   Contact our knowledgeable legal team and set up a free consultation.  Don’t second guess, know your rights.  Call now.

Product Liability — When to Pursue Litigation

As consumers, we expect the things we buy to work as promised. Whether it is a toaster or a vehicle, we hope that the hard earned money we plunked down for an item will culminate in our ability to use it.  Sometimes this is not the case.  Of course, we become justifiably upset when this occurs, yet, depending on the situation, it may or may not be feasible to file a product liability lawsuit in such instances.

Knowing When to Sue

Nothing is more frustrating than buying an item in good faith and it fails to work properly; however, simple frustration is not enough reason to pursue a product liability lawsuit.  In most cases, injury or property damage has to occur for the case to be viable.   One of the main reasons for this is that the costs of pursing this type of lawsuit is high.
For instance, if you bought a blender, plugged it in and it doesn’t do its job as anticipated, you can simply try to get a refund or exchange.  If that doesn’t happen, you may be able to take the matter to small claims court, however, if the product only cost you a little under $50 dollars, it may be best to write it off as a loss.

On the other hand, if the blender had a short in it that caused your house to burn down, then you may wish to take the matter to court.  In as situation like this, you not only lose valued, irreplaceable possessions, but the property damage could be extension, ranging into the tens to hundred of thousands of dollars.  If a death occurred, the emotional and financial stakes can rise even higher.

Under these types of circumstances, it is well worth the time and money expenditure to pursue a product liability case.

Auto Maker Liability Lawsuits

Some situations, like roof crush or SUV rollover, can be traced by to a manufacturer’s defect; in fact, some solo car, truck and motorcycle accidents can be linked to defective auto parts.  Other serious accidents can even be caused by faulty brakes, bad electrical wiring and engine failure.  All of these scenarios can result in product liability litigation.

It is the auto manufactures duty to make sure that vehicle is roadworthy.  This means ensuring a car or truck roof can withstand impact, or that a SUV can’t rollover simply because of a bad turn.  While some automakers have tried to ensure that their vehicles meet industry standards, far too often, safety modifications are cut in the interest of saving money.

When this occurs, accidents can and will happen.

Consumer safety should come first, not the bottom line. When death or injury occurs because of this practice, accident victims owe it to themselves and to society at large to hold the company responsibility for their actions.
