Consecutive Accidents on San Diego 405 Are Drunk Driving Accidents

Three interrelated accidents that took place one after another on San Diego Freeway 405 in Los Angeles County are suspected to have involved drunk driving, authorities have reported. In total, seven people were injured – three critically. Two unnamed drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

At about 3 a.m. on Sunday, the drunk driver of a minivan hit the median of the Freeway, impacting the divider and then coming to a stop. A second driver, also reported drunk, crashed into the minivan as the driver and passengers were emptying from the vehicle. One person was thrown into a carpool lane from the crash’s impact.
Behind the crash, a third driver then crashed into a car that had slowed in light of the accident. Authorities believe this driver was also drunk.

The fire department dispatched units to the scene of the drunk driving accidents at around 3:11 a.m. Three of the injured were taken to the UCLA medical center in critical condition.

One Person Dead After Industry Drunk Driving Car Accident, 5 Others Seriously Injured

A drunk driving car accident in Industry, a suburb of Los Angeles County, claimed one life and seriously injured 5 others when 4 cars collided on Tuesday night. Authorities reported that several of the victims were trapped in their vehicles until emergency personnel arrived.

El Monte Single Car Accident Suspected To Be Drunk Driving Accident

Crash on Highway 18 Thought To Be Result of Drunk Driving

A man suspected be drunk driving early Monday morning has been arrested, after causing an accident where his vehicle flipped on the highway, authorities reported. The man, identified as Jashdeep Gill, was reportedly in the fast lane of Highway 118 when, as an apparent result of driving drunk, he lost control of his vehicle. The accident occurred westbound past Rocky Peak Fire road, ay about 2:05 am on Monday morning. After losing control, Gill struck the center divider of the highway, resulting in the rollover of his vehicle. When the car finally stopped, it was situated on its roof in a position perpendicular to the roadway.

About 2 minutes past the accident, Gill exited his vehicle and walked away. At this point, another driver, Michael Cerniglia of Camarillo, crashed into Gill’s vehicle as he progressed west on the highway. Due to the early morning darkness, Cerneglia said he couldn’t see Gill’s vehicle lying on the highway. Cerneglia was taken to a hospital with injuries to the head, in the form of a cut.

DUI Driver Charged with Killing His Friend in SUV Rollover

After going on a 10-hour bar hopping drinking binge on July 25, Santa Ana resident Jose Maria Olmos got behind the wheel of an SUV with his two friends Juan Garcia and Jose Guadalupe Vilchis,  in the vehicle.  After driving between 60 to 70 mph in a 30 mph zone on Standard Avenue, 37-year-old Olmos   lost control.  The SUV rolled over onto its side before skidding to a stop in a parking lot just north of Bishop Street.  Vilchis was only moderately injured but Garcia was ejected from the car and suffered severe head trauma. Garcia was transported to Western Medical Center, but died at the hospital at 1:30 a.m. on July 26.

Jose Maria Olmos,  was   charged with vehicular homicide while intoxicated as well as driving without a license.   He faces a possible sentence of 11-years in prison if convicted.

18-year-old Charged with Murder after Fatal DUI Crash

A teenager who was driving on a suspended learner’s permit and under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into a utility pole,  was charged with murder for killing  a passenger in the car.  Officers say that not only was Milad Moulayi drinking and driving without a legal license, he was traveling at speeds in access of 100 mph.  Milad Moulayi,  was 17 years old at the time of the incident and the victim was 16.

The accident occurred in Aug 2008, after Moulayi departed from his home in followup a party.  The teen had been drinking excessively  but offered to drive his friend, Mackenzie Frazee, home.  After taking his Mercedes Benz up to 102-112 mph, Moulayi crossed the center median on Newport Avenue in Tustin and crashed into a utility pole, splitting the car in half.  The car caught on fire and firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free Frazee.  Frazee was pronounced dead at Western medical Center while Moulayi was only treated for cuts and bruises.  His blood alcohol level was registered at .11%.

Downtown LA Crash Results in Traffic Fatality

A suspected drunk driver crashed his car into a parked vehicle and utility pole killing himself and injuring  passengers and one pedestrian in downtown LA. 33-year-old Ricardo Avila-Tamayo of El Monte was traveling northbound down Santa Fe Avenue in a Ford Explorer at approximately 2:30 a.m. when he collided with a parked car and hit a pole at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard.  Avila-Tamayo was pronounced dead at the scene while his front seat passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition.  A second passenger, who was seated at the rear of the SUV, also suffered severe injuries.

A female pedestrian was injured in the crash as well, but the extent of her injuries are not known. Witnesses reported that the SUV was speeding and friends of the SUV passengers indicated that the driver may have been drinking.

Hit-and-Run Driver Pleads Guilty to Fleeing the Scene

Car Accident Kills Fontana Woman

A car accident this morning resulted in the death of one woman, in an accident that is suspected to be the result of drunk driving. At around 2:25 am, the driver of a Honda Civic, 26-year-old Fontana woman, stood from her car after it stalled and switched positions with another passenger, but was struck from behind by another car.
