Arizona Medical Helicopter Crash

Two medical helicopters crashed in mid-air on Sunday killing at least six, including the patient aboard one of the copters. The Federal Aviation Administration indicates that the crash occurred at 3:45 pm and was on the scene investigation the crash within hours. The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to arrive on Monday to lead the investigation.

In addition to the mid-air crash, the collision resulted in a forest fire of at least 10-acres. Another two rescue workers were killed on the ground after another explosion as a result of the crash.

Air Methods Corporation, a medical service provider was the owner and operator of the Bell 407 helicopter and Classic Helicopter Service of Utah was the owner and operator of the other Bell 407 helicopter. Four surviving victims of the crash were aboard the Classic Helicopter Service helicopter.
