Car Crashes into Light Pole in West Covina, Killing 1

A single vehicle car accident in West Covina left one man, whose identity has not been released, dead on Friday. The man crashed into a light pole where East Amar Road intersects with Shadow Oak Drive.

At around 9:40 p.m., the man was driving on East Amar Road when presumably he lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle ran into the median on the road and spun, sending it into the light pole. Authorities estimated that the man was in his 20s or 30s.

Pregnant Woman Killed in Hit and Run Gardena Bicycle Accident

A pregnant woman was killed on Friday after being hit on her bicycle by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene after the accident. Jennifer Costlow was riding her bicycle southbound on Normandie in Gardena, shortly before midnight, when a driver struck her in the back with a dark, two-door car. The driver did not stop, driving past the woman and then turning onto 166th street. Costlow was taken to a hospital, but tragically she died within only two hours.

Costlow’s boyfriend was riding his bicycle with her, but was not injured in the bicycle accident.

Los Angeles Rollover Accident on Freeway 110

Sunday morning, southbound Freeway 110 in Los Angeles became the site of an unfortunate rollover accident that killed 1 person, a 75-year-old man from Rosemead. The accident took place on the Slauson Avenue onramp of the freeway.

Reports say that the rollover accident took place at around 5:50 a.m. on Sunday. A Nissan Quest minivan was reported to have rolled onto its side, but there was not much information about the events leading to that. Upon impact, the driver of the Quest was ejected from the vehicle onto the road.

The driver, whose name has yet to be released, was 75 years old at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the Los Angeles rollover accident when paramedics arrived. An investigation is ongoing but no other information has been released so far.

Consecutive Accidents on San Diego 405 Are Drunk Driving Accidents

Three interrelated accidents that took place one after another on San Diego Freeway 405 in Los Angeles County are suspected to have involved drunk driving, authorities have reported. In total, seven people were injured – three critically. Two unnamed drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

At about 3 a.m. on Sunday, the drunk driver of a minivan hit the median of the Freeway, impacting the divider and then coming to a stop. A second driver, also reported drunk, crashed into the minivan as the driver and passengers were emptying from the vehicle. One person was thrown into a carpool lane from the crash’s impact.
Behind the crash, a third driver then crashed into a car that had slowed in light of the accident. Authorities believe this driver was also drunk.

The fire department dispatched units to the scene of the drunk driving accidents at around 3:11 a.m. Three of the injured were taken to the UCLA medical center in critical condition.

Rollover Accident Injures 2 People in Parking Lot

The Department of Motor Vehicles parking lot in Inglewood was the location of an accident this past weekend in which two people were injured. In the accident, the car flipped over in the parking lot, trapping two women inside of it.

The rollover accident took place at around 2:45 in the morning on Saturday at a DMV in Inglewood, the office on La Brea. Two unnamed women were trapped inside the car after it flipped, until officials reported to the scene and extricated them.
Both women were treated by paramedics at the accident and were then taken to the hospital. Their injuries were minor, according to reports.

Twin Boys Die in Los Angeles Apartment Fire in Crenshaw

Twin brothers have died in a Los Angeles apartment fire that took place on Thursday morning. The apartment where the fire took place contained a mother and five children, who were spared apart from the twin brothers.

The Los Angeles apartment fire started at around 3 a.m. on the 4000 block of Ursula in LA, due to unknown causes. Within half an, the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and extinguished the apartment fire, but not before the twin 15-year-olds were killed.

Firefighters maneuvered their way into the apartment, crawling on their stomachs, to save the pregnant mother and three other children. The bodies of the 15-year-olds were found inside of the apartment. One of the boys is said to have suffered from autism.

Crash on Palmdale Sierra Highway Kills 21-year-old

An accident that took place in Palmdale on Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of one man, a 21-year-old of Palmdale. Injured in the same crash, which took place on Sierra Highway, was a 78-year-old man.

Sometime around 3:15, the two motorists crashed head on Sierra Highway near Agua Dulce Canyon Road. The first driver, 21-year-old Anthony Charles Evans, was driving north. The other driver, 78-year-old Frank William Hoover, was driving south on the Highway. Evans attempted to pass a driver, crossing over the double yellow lines to do so, and crashed in Hoover head on.

Both motorists were taken to hospitals directly after the crash. Evans was taken to Newhall Memorial, where he died. Hoover was taken to Holy Cross Hospital with critical injuries.

Motorcyclist Riding Yamaha Killed In Long Beach Accident, Racing Suspected

23-year-old Edgar Toledo, who unfortunately died on Wednesday after a motorcycle accident, may have been racing, authorities believe.

On Wednesday, at around 7 p.m. in Long Beach, Toledo was driving on Santa Fe Avenue when he crashed into another car on the road, a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. The Galant was turning left from Columbia Street when the two crashed at the intersection of Santa Fe  and Columbia.

Toledo was driving with another motorcycle alongside him before the crash took place, authorities say. Toledo’s motorcycle, a 2009 Yamaha, was moving very quickly as he progressed towards the intersection. Both motorcyclists apparently were racing or performing tricks on Santa Fe Avenue.

Tragically, Toledo died at the scene of the Long Beach motorcycle accident. The other car involved in the accident contained four occupants, a driver and three passengers, all of whom were hospitalized with injuries that were not life threatening.

Teenager is Critically Injured after Simi Valley Pickup Truck Crash

A teenager was reported critically injured after a single vehicle crash in Simi Valley on the morning of the 5th, around 2 a.m. The 17-year-old was driving a pickup truck and crashed into a wall. No other cars were involved.

Taxi Driver Crashes into Los Angeles Home, Charged With Assault

A taxi driver whose clients did not pay the full fare is suspected to have intentionally caused a crash with a Los Angeles home, causing an injury and leading to an assault charge. Police believe the man retaliated against passengers after they refused to pay him.

The taxi driver took a couple from Beverly Hills to a Los Angeles home, a drive which would regularly be brief but ended up taking an hour. For the taxi ride, the driver charged approximately $35 but the couple refused and only paid $26. As the couple walked away from the vehicle, the taxi driver accelerated forward and crashed into the Los Angeles home.

Police believe the crash was intentional, an act of retaliation, but the taxi driver maintains that he accidentally hit the gas. One man who was behind the door of the Los Angeles home was injured, but his injuries were only minor.
