Taser International has advised police agencies across the United States not to fire stun guns at a suspect’s chest. The company has said that if used in such a way, there is a slight chance of inducing an “adverse cardiac event.” This advisory was sent out in an October 12th training bulletin for law enforcement. This is the first time that Taser has said there is any risk of cardiac arrest related to the discharge of their stun guns, which produce over 50,000 volts of electricity.
