A car that drove from a vehicle to hit a tree on Thursday night contained two people, both of whom were killed in the car crash. Driving on Golden State Freeway 5, the 21-year-old male driver took the Colorado Street exit. At about 9 pm, the driver lost control on the exit and struck a tree. The Los Angeles Fire Department apparently arrived only to find the two occupants, driver and 18-year-old passenger, already killed, pronouncing both dead at the scene. Investigation of the accident is expected to continue. It is not yet clear as to why the driver lost control.
To many local driver, the Colorado Street exit is a rather unusual one and particularly long. While the CHP investigation continues, it is important to examine whether a possible road design defect may exist.
