An early case of what seemed to be holiday traffic was caused by a car accident involving an elderly woman on Whittier Boulevard. The 70-year old woman was the driver in a Ford Taurus when she made a turn in front of another vehicle, a Toyota 4 Runner traveling the opposite way. It is possible that the accident involved a left-turn violation, according to a Whittier police official. The Ford Taurus took on substantial damages requiring it to be towed away, and the woman was also injured in the car accident. She was transported to USC Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. The woman is now in stable condition.
